He needed a teacher, and he ended up with a bodhisattva. They become very competitive; Bodhi is in touch with his spiritual side and feels that that is the most important thing in life. Utah holds the law as sacred, and he believes all are accountable for their actions and need to be served the justice in which is fitting for breaking the law.

I struggle with bipolar disorder. My grandfather was diagnosed with the disorder, and I was diagnosed with it when I was 16. It’s hard, you go through ups and downs and for no reason other than you have a chemical imbalance. I was put on lithium, and I would regularly have to get my blood drawn to check the levels. I struggle mostly with the depression side of the disorder, periodically I do have manic episodes, but they are usually things like buying stupid things that I could do without.

Anyway, I met a woman when I was going to the UHH who was from Japan. She was the most interesting person I’ve ever met, and she was stunning. I was determined to date her. When I went to her apartment to discuss an assignment we had, I noticed that she did not have a TV. She had just broken up with her boyfriend, and she asked me “would you ever call the love of your life a bitch?” I told her no. I think the only person I called a bitch to their face was my stepmom, but that was because we had a strange relationship, and not in the sense that I was romantically interested in her. The next time that I went to Mariko’s apartment I brought my Sega Game Gear with me that had a TV tuner accessory, so she could have a TV. We went through our interview, and it was time for me to go home I left, went to the elevator and on to where my ride was going to pick me up. As I was going toward my friend’s car, she came out of the elevator with this giant smile on her face. She stopped me and bowed and said, “thank you so much.”

Long story short, we never got together. I did see her one last time at the McDonald’s that I worked at. She saw me and said there is one more custom from Japan I want to share with you. She bowed really low and held it for 20 seconds or so and rose slowly and looked me in the eye. She said that she was truly and deeply sorry. To me it was closure I guess, kind of saying thanks for your interest in me but we can never be. It was at that point I went into a real bad depression. I wouldn’t say that I was suicidal, but I had no hope left and no will to live.

It took me a while to get back on my feet, but I did. I think that is something people need to realize, that life without heartache and pain is not a full life. You can’t live in the happy path your whole life, there is so much more. The sucky parts of life are things that you need to grow and move on to the next stage in your life. You have to know what the feeling is like where you are so distraught and heartbroken that you need to pick yourself backup and restore your fire and passion for life. It’s good for you builds character, promise.

Part of me getting back on my feet was a goal to get back to college and finish my undergraduate degree. I got a job working at a hotel as a housekeeper, the post I was interested in was for a desk position, when I got there the position was closed so I took a job as a housekeeper. It’s hard work, people are really messy sometimes. I met a lot of people because turn around at hotels for the back of the house workers (housekeepers, laundry) is quite high. One of the workers that I was asked to train was Jameliah. She is a Saudi Arabian American. I thought she was Asian, her roots are a little west of Asia.

I thought she was really cool, she was pretty quiet, but feisty. We had too much fun going through several rooms and cleaning up the mess to get the rooms ready for the next set of guests coming in. Her friend who came long the same day from Labor Ready was an older lady, probably the same age as my mom. I was training her too, and she asked if I would be able to take her home. I did, and she told me that Jameliah was smitten with me. I didn’t know what that met, she told me that it means she has a crush on me. I was flattered, because I was in the same boat. She gave me her number and we “dated” for a few months. It turns out, the lady who I brought home (her name is Karen), her neighbor Carlos also had the hots for Jameliah. He was so infatuated with her, he told me that he wanted to have children with her so that his father would receive a grandchild before passing away, I guess he was quite old. Carlos is part of the Nortenjos family (I know I spelled that wrong but oh well) which were the equivalent the bloods street gang I think anyway, that was the color of his bandana, a red bandana, and he loathed Snoop Doggy Dogg, I wasn’t allowed to play that when I came over to hang out.

He told me later when we became friends (more like frenamies) that when I told him that he was too immature to be with Jameliah, he said that he was about ready to stab me in the neck with a screwdriver, lucky for me he didn’t. Karen gave him a look that thwarted his thoughts of violence. He was a messed-up dude. He is Mexican, but he hung out with these Neo-Nazi’s which I thought was odd, I elected to hang out with Karen she was really cool. We kind of tag teamed Jameliah’s attention, she would hang out with Carlos, and then she would hang out with me. Carlos said that she was the smoothest player in the game. I opted out after I learned she was hanging out with him and me. He freaked out one day and tried to drown her in Riverfront Park. She wrote on one of the signs there that JH loves JD 637, well I am Joshua Dahl, she is Jameliah H (can’t remember her last name) and 637 is an old pager code, most of you probably have forgotten that stuff. She told me about the encounter, and I told her to stay away from him, he’s nuts, literally nuts.

I went on one last date with her, and it was kind of funny. I drove this Hyundai Elantra that had the same engine that they put in Mitsubishi Eclipses and wanted to go and race some quarters. I heard there was a place off Shiloh that people would go and street race. I took her out to this place that was near the Red Door in Billings, and I took her down this dirt road thinking that I was getting the hangout where people race. I ended up getting stuck and Jameliah and I were all alone in the boonies somewhere. I planned on making out with her, but I also needed to get out of the predicament I was in because her dad would literally kill me. I ended up having to call my grandfather to pull me out. He was surprised to meet my guest but just shook his head and told me to be careful.

Yep, be careful. That’s something I am probably not; I am reckless and definitely not delicate. Life is ride, go with it and live it, because it’s the only one you got.

Obviously my interests include philosophy. I think thinking and thought are the beginning of every great thing. It’s how we understand and perceive the world. Periodically I’ll change things up and blog about something math or computer science related or even a blog about mythology. I am not political, trendy, or savvy, but I do like a good story. That is why I try and find a movie clip that hints or encompasses what I want to blog about. Sometimes the relevance is there, sometimes it’s a reach and I just really love the movie that I put in the post. The intent and purpose of my blog is to make you think, make me think and together our thoughts can be shared in a collection of material.
