Imagination

Robocop was after his target, a crime boss named Kain. Robo was a little short on help, the police were on strike because of unfair wages, so Robo went after Kain by himself. He finds Kain in an old waste treatment facility. Kain set a trap for Robo, and he is taken apart. Afterwards the thugs take what’s left of Robo and throw him out at the nearest police station. The programmer demands OCP fund getting Robo back online, he is needed out there.

A machine cop, that is a cyborg. Cyborg is flesh and machine combined together, not something you’d see naturally by any means. But…

Imagine. There is not technically a limit as to what you can imagine. Your imagination gets vaster when you experience new things or encounter new things. The more you see and experience the more you can expound on. There are some limitations of course, you cannot imagine things that are not possible. Meaning you cannot imagine a shape that is not a shape or if it were such a shape then it would redefine what you understand as a shape. For instance, apple, the word has a direct reference in your mind, you immediately know what an apple is. There are different attributes that make up an apple so your imagined instance of an apple may vary, however you won’t think triangle when I say apple, that is non-sensical.

Imagination can be our guide in many different components:

Representing possibilities: A broad imagination allows you to form mental pictures of things that are not actually present or have never been directly experienced. This includes creating possibilities that differ from present, actual reality.

Diverse content: It involves the capacity to imagine a wide variety of scenarios, from abstract concepts like infinity to concrete objects like electrons and black holes. A broad imagination is also fueled by a wide and varied vocabulary.

Connecting ideas: It enables the synthesis of vast amounts of data and the correlation of seemingly unrelated ideas into novel frameworks. For example, Charles Darwin’s “breadth of imagination” allowed him to connect his diverse observations into a coherent theory of evolution.

Exploration of human experience: A broad imagination can span different time periods, perspectives, and emotional landscapes, allowing for a richer understanding of human and other experiences.

What you can learn from using your imagination:

Scientific discovery: Scientists use a vast imagination to envision new theories that go beyond ordinary experience and current knowledge, the theory of relativity for example.

Creative pursuits: A broad imagination is the foundation for creating rich art, literature, and stories. By combining and manipulating ideas in unconventional ways, people can create entirely new worlds and characters. Comic book characters, cartoons, storybook material etc.

Problem-solving: It helps in practical decision-making and innovation by allowing a person to explore a wider solution space. This includes inventing, improvising, and seeing new possibilities for overcoming challenges.

Empathy and moral understanding: Imagination enables an individual to mentally simulate scenarios and consider different perspectives, which is central to developing empathy and moral understanding.

I imagine that this was something you needed to read today to get you going on your project or day. I imagine you side eyeing your screen as you wonder what I was doing before I decided to read this. I told you on the home page you will want your five minutes back, too late ha-ha.

Obviously my interests include philosophy. I think thinking and thought are the beginning of every great thing. It’s how we understand and perceive the world. Periodically I’ll change things up and blog about something math or computer science related or even a blog about mythology. I am not political, trendy, or savvy, but I do like a good story. That is why I try and find a movie clip that hints or encompasses what I want to blog about. Sometimes the relevance is there, sometimes it’s a reach and I just really love the movie that I put in the post. The intent and purpose of my blog is to make you think, make me think and together our thoughts can be shared in a collection of material.
